New Month, New Cause
This April, every 6 check-ins at Live Oak will provide a day of care to a child in need. We’re working with Reach by Causely and Compassion International to make it happen. You can add #compassion4kids when you check in to promote the cause. For more information about this month’s mission, check out compassion.com.
Green Bag Sunday - April 7th
This month we will be supporting Young Lives! This organization’s vision to reach teen moms by entering their world, modeling the unconditional love of Christ, and encouraging them to become the women and mothers God created them to be. You can help by grabbing a green bag on your way out of church this Sunday and then filling it with baby wipes, baby lotion, baby wash, gallon size zip-loc bags, diapers, pull-ups, and lysol spray/wipes. In addition, they can use $10 gift cards for gasoline and restaurants (Starbucks, McDonald’s, Chick-Fil-A, etc.), the gift cards allow the mentors to meet with and love on these young moms. A list of needed items will be in the green bags for your convenience!
Easter Weekend - April 20th - 21st
Did you know that more people attend church on Easter Sunday than on any other Sunday of the year? And the majority attend because someone invited them! So, who will you invite this year? We have 4 opportunities to enjoy our Easter Service, Saturday, April 20th, at 5:00 & 7:00 pm and Sunday at 9:00 & 10:45 am.
Soles4Souls - April 20th & 21st
It’s that time of year once again! For the last 9 years Easter Sunday is also known as Barefoot Sunday at Live Oak! We will be collecting shoes (any size, any type, any condition) to send to Soles4Souls. So while you are cleaning your closets out and determining what may or may not bring you joy, set aside the shoes for us! Our goal is 1000 pairs. We have come close to this number the last couple of years, let’s make it happen this time! Ask your neighbors and coworkers to donate too.
Kairos Prison Ministry - April 25th - 28th
The next Kairos weekend is April 25 - 28th. Most of us know what that means! For those that don’t, it means it’s cookie time! Each time our guys go into the Ridgeland Correctional Facility for a Kairos weekend, they bring homemade cookies for the inmates and staff. If you are interested in baking some cookies, be sure to follow this recipe. Bring your cookies into the office by Tuesday, April 23rd.
If you don’t bake, you can sign up to pray during specific times throughout that weekend or make a financial donation to help cover the cost associated with the weekend. Contact Andre Nougaret or Bob Keane with any questions.
