We talk about compassion being part of our DNA at Live Oak.  Every month we try to highlight activities and updates with our compassion partners.  This issue of The Weekly presents 3 opportunities for you to get involved.  Come and be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community!

Individual bottles of water,
Fruit (whole bananas, apples, oranges, pears, etc. - grab & go),
Breakfast casseroles,

There may even be some construction projects to tackle!  So if you are interested in projects that involve bringing your own toolbox, this is the event for you!  All ages are welcomed and families are encouraged! Meeting at 100 HE McCracken Circle from 9:00 am-noon.  This is another opportunity for house churches to serve together.

Family Promise

family promise(560x314).jpg

Family Promise is an organization that houses homeless families for a period of about 90 days.  They assist them with job applications, transportation, finding housing, etc.  The families move every Sunday to a different church in Beaufort County.  Low Country Presbyterian Church houses the families and Live Oak helps provide the support needed.  The easiest way to help is to volunteer to spend the night at the church with the families.  You have your own bed and separate space.  You are just there in case of an emergency.  Another way to help is to prepare dinner for the families and come and eat at the table with them.  Our turn is coming up next month!  We actually will have a 2 week timeframe to serve rather than just a week this time.  Dates are June 24 - July 7.  If you are interested in helping or need more information, please contact Judy Frost at

Child Dedication

If you want to place your parenting under the lordship of Christ, this service is for you. The practice of dedicating children is rich in church and biblical tradition. God's word speaks abundantly about the responsibility of parents in passing the torch of faith to their children. This dedication service is more about the parents than the kids. It is you who will stand up in view of your church family and proclaim your intentions to do all within your power to raise your children to know and follow Jesus. It is you who will invite into your parenting both the encouragement and accountability of your Live Oak church family.

We will have the dedication ceremony at both services on May 20th.
