Live Oak Family,

As Hurricane Matthew has come and gone from our area, there are many many questions being asked concerning our homes, our friends, our family, and our community.

First, let me STRONGLY encourage you to keep up to date with the latest information from emergency and safety departments. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office (Emergency Services) have been updating regularly as has the Bluffton Police Department. The BPD's Facebook page has been outstanding for up-to-date information.

Second, DO NOT attempt to return home until the "all clear" has been given from BOTH state AND Local officials. For more information, please use the re-entry hotline for up to date information:

A few people have begun to ask, "What will Live Oak be doing to help?" (I LOVE our church's heart!) As for Live Oak:

  • Remember, there are NO WORSHIP SERVICES TOMORROW.
  • We are cancelling ALL EVENTS THIS WEEK, including Greater events.
  • Once we are back in town, we will coordinate and communicate ministry/help opportunities with local emergency and Red Cross efforts and other churches.

Our GREATER INITIATIVE has a big date scheduled for October 16 - Commitment Sunday. You were all to get major communication pieces this week in the mail, but due to the hurricane, we had to leave these efforts behind. We will get information later this week about what our next steps for this initiative will be, but for now, OUR FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT FOCUS IS OUR COMMUNITY.

Friends, be safe, look out for others, and take care of each other. Remember:

"God is our refuge and strength, AN EVER-PRESENT HELP IN TIME OF TROUBLE.
Therefore, WE WILL NOT FEAR, though the earth give way and the mountains fall
into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake
with their surging."
- Psalm 46:1-3
