Live Oak Family and Friends,

PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO READ THROUGH THIS EMAIL!

Hurricane Matthew has left it's impression on the Low Country. He came in with force and left many with powerless homes, fallen trees, and various degrees of damage. Some escaped without much harm; others have lost vehicles, porches, docks, and even homes. It's a bit overwhelming to think of the value of what's been lost, and yet the most valuable asset we have remains: our lives. We are ALL grateful that our friends and families are safe.

As a church, we are also grateful that all of our "stuff" was unharmed. Our office, our trailer/truck/gear, the location we currently meet (Bluffton High School), and our future home (Bluffton School of Dance) ... all in good shape.

As we are all recovering from our trips and returning to the new "normal" for the area, we need to update all of you on what happens next with our church. As you know, this Sunday, October 16, was to be the commitment Sunday for our 2 year GREATER initiative. It was also to be the "beginning of the end" of our time at Bluffton High School, with a move to our new location scheduled for November 6. We currently have 4 or 5 different schedules running, from production of new equipment, to renovations and installations at Bluffton School of Dance. As you can imagine, all of our schedules are sideways at this point.

NEW SUNDAY SCHEDULE

Beginning his Sunday we will hold ONLY ONE SERVICE until we move to the Bluffton School of Dance (BSOD). The service will be held at 10:00 and will last approximately 1 hr 15 minutes. This Sunday we will spend a few minutes updating everyone on the GREATER Initiative and our impending move, but most of the service will focus on worship, prayer, and encouragement as a family.

GREATER INITIATIVE

This Sunday was supposed to be our commitment Sunday. For several months the leadership has been praying over and planning the GREATER INITIATIVE, and for the last several weeks you all have heard about it. GREATER was to culminate in a "Catalyst" offering of $100,000 to help offset costs associated with the upcoming move, and a call for a 2 year commitment to generously give $2.2 million dollars for GREATER impact today, tomorrow, and together. "Greater faith for greater impact through greater generosity."

Because of Hurricane Matthew we will be pushing our commitment Sunday back by one week to October 23. It is SO important that everyone come this weekend to hear more about what we are doing and how you can be a part of it.

MOVING DATE

As announced earlier this fall, Live Oak is moving its services to Bluffton School of Dance. The originally scheduled date of November 6 has been delayed due to the renovation schedule's shift from Hurricane Matthew. We will keep you posted on what comes next; in the meantime we will approach the school about allowing us to stay a few extra weeks until we are able to complete the renovations at BSOD.

VOLUNTEERING

AT THE CHURCH
Our current volunteer schedule remains in place for Sunday mornings. This Sunday the "B TEAM" is still up ... and we need you! Even though we will be in one service, come ready to volunteer as usual, and if we have too many volunteers ... wouldn't that be great!

AT THE BSOD
We continue to invite you to volunteer in our new location. This Sunday a "Volunteer Central" tent will be up and running for information on how you can get involved in our ministry.

IN OUR COMMUNITY
We continue to invite you to volunteer to help Bluffton, Beaufort, and Hilton Head by partnering with Samaritan's Purse at Low Country Community Church. For more information on how you can volunteer, CLICK HERE.

GREEN BAGS THIS SUNDAY

A few weeks ago you were given GREEN BAGS to fill up for Bluffton Self Help; we asked you to fill them up with peanut butter and jelly. After speaking with Bluffton Self Help, they have asked us to CONTINUE WITH THAT ACTION. So ... this Sunday ... if you have extra PBnJ, bring them and we'll get them to BSH!

There is MUCH to be done! Our community needs us to be engaged. This is a great opportunity for all of us to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our neighbors, friends, and town. It will also open up chances for you to share HOPE with people and to invite them to something GREATER. Listen, we exist to "love God, love people, and bring the two together." We've been saying for weeks now that GENEROSITY is one of the best ways to do that! So Live Oak - be generous! GO OUT AND BE THE CHURCH!

And this Sunday, make it a priority to come together to worship God and give him thanks ... to be encouraged by brothers and sisters in Christ ... to dive into Psalm 91 and draw strength from HIS presence ... together.

TOGETHER,
LOCC Elders
