Simply put, we are supposed to GO! There are few commands in the Bible more clear than the command to go ... but where? When we talk about "missions" or "compassion" at the church so many people jump to the conclusion that we want everyone to get on an airplane and GO to Arica or India or Thailand! The truth is, Jesus wants us to take the gospel with us everywhere ... when we GO to work, when we GO to school, when we GO to across the street, and yes, when we GO across the sea. Join us the month of November as we are challenged by this simple command: "THEREFORE, GO!"

For the last several years Live Oak has given away a Compassion Gift during the month of November. We've set a financial goal for a collection in one day and given all of it away! We've given gifts of $12,000, $20,000, $40,000 or more all over the world.

Because of the recent 90 Days of Generosity Challenge, we've decided this year to set a different kind of goal for our Compassion Gift. This year, on Sunday, November 22, during both services, everyone will be invited to take part in service project. Partnering with Stop Hunger Now and Kairos Prison Ministry, it is our goal to:

Put together 10,000 meals to distribute globally
Put together 3,000+ hygiene kits to give to inmates in South Carolina
Raise $6,000 to cover our expenses.
(If you'd like to donate online, click here and select the "Compassion Fund."

This is a PERFECT opportunity to invite friends to church for a brief time of worship and then to GO! The cafeteria and art hallways at the school will be turned into service stations and we'll live our reckless generosity in a different way!

Last year Live Oak's Tana Turner returned to the mission field with the Outpour Movement. We are excited to announce a 2016 trip to visit Tana and her work in Thailand! The trip is scheduled for mid-late June and will be open to anyone 16 years and older. If you're interested, please attend an info-meeting Monday, November 2, from 6:30 - 8:00 at the church office.
