An Apostles Build is a house sponsorship by a collaboration of local churches coming together to build a Habitat for Humanity house in partnership with a family in need. As Jesus’s original disciples were charged with spreading the word about Jesus, Apostle Churches are charged with furthering Habitat’s mission of providing decent shelter for all of God’s children. On Thursday, April 20, we kicked off our Apostles Build with a short ceremony to introduce the family, and then volunteers from each of the sponsoring churches raised the walls to start this first step towards a new home for the Quesada Arias/Quesada family. The house is located in The Glen on Hilton Head Island just off Marshland Road on Alex Patterson.
Volunteers will be needed throughout this project! No experience is necessary but you must be able to do physical work. Anyone 16 and over can volunteer, however, jobs are limited for 16 & 17 year olds. Habitat for Humanity will provide all of the tools and supervision. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Christy Long at email@example.com or the church office.
As opportunities become available we will promote them on FaceBook, in the bulletin and in The Loop.
Who doesn't like a free lunch? Join us on Sunday, August 20th for food and fellowship.
If you are new to Live Oak, this is a great opportunity to get to know us. It also gives us a chance to get to know you too!
The lunch is held at the church office building in the Ministry Center at 1:00pm.
If you or your child is interested in being baptized, our next baptism is scheduled for Sunday, August 27th. One of the pastors would love to meet with you to discuss baptism and answer any questions you may have. You can let us know you are interested by clicking below and someone will be in contact to schedule a meeting.
Live Oak's Launch class is THE place to get started. Spend 90 minutes with Pastor Michael talking about the vision, mission, values, and beliefs of the church. This class will also explain how to get connected through serving, studies or joining a house church. While this is Live Oak's "membership" class, it is very low key and low pressure, and is open for anyone who wants to know more about us.
